by | May 2, 2022

Redmond, Oregon, is a bustling community that shares the same amazing views and landscape that the rest of Central Oregon has, but with a smaller population that gives way to quiet courses less likely to develop a crowd. The area’s milder weather grants golfers the opportunity to hit the links nearly year-round, all while enjoying the many amenities Central Oregon offers, like farm-to-table dining and some of the best craft beer, cider and wine around. You can’t really go wrong with golf in Central Oregon, but read on to discover some amazing golf courses in Redmond.

Eagle Crest Golf Courses

The golf courses at Eagle Crest Resort west of Redmond can rival any of the award-winning courses in Central Oregon. The resort offers four unique golf courses. The Ridge Golf Course and Resort Golf Course are 18-hole, par 72 courses. The Challenge Golf Course is an 18-hole par 63 course, while the Putting Golf Course is a short and sweet, family-friendly 18-hole putting course. At Eagle Crest, all of the golf courses offer stunning views of the nearby high desert landscape and the surrounding Cascade peaks.

The Ridge Course sets itself apart by being surrounded by an old-growth juniper forest. This course is described as a “driver’s dream” because of how many chances golfers get to break out the driver and hope to land on ample green space. The Resort Course stands apart because of its distinct nines. Break out the driver on the front nine, but be prepared for the back nine to be full of tight fairways that require a great deal of accuracy; a great challenge for golfers of all skill levels. The Resort Course is even home to one of Central Oregon’s favorite par 3s. Finally, the Challenger Course offers a fun, fast-paced experience that tests the limits of a golfer’s short game. The courses at Eagle Crest Resort are open to resort members and guests for play. Others are welcome to purchase an annual pass or punch card for access to golfing at the resort.

Juniper Golf Course

Juniper Golf Course is a publicly-owned golf course that strives to support and bring together the Redmond community through the love of the game. The 18-hole, par 72 course is home to high desert views that highlight twisted juniper trees, sagebrush and the Cascade Mountains. The course was originally built as a nine-hole course, but the back nine was added to allow golfers to meander through a juniper forest and explore the stark desert terrain. Golf Digest touted the Juniper Golf Course as one of the best new public golf courses in the country a couple years after its opening in 2005. This course is also hailed affordable, with a tee time reservation of $55 to $65 per player.

The Greens Golf Course

The Greens at Redmond golf course is an 18-hole premium mid-iron golf course that features an indoor warmup area with a range practice center, putting green and sand bunker. Designed by Robert Muir Graves, the course features man-made lakes, canals, fountains and numerous white sand bunkers. The picturesque volcanic-stone outcroppings only add to the natural ambiance that is already made stunning with mountain views. The course is public and very affordable, with daily prices ranging from $14 to $34. The course is open year-round, taking advantage of the lower elevation and less snowfall.
