Sisters, Oregon, is an idyllic mountain town with tons of Western charm that sits at the base of the mighty Cascade Range, with access to both the Deschutes and Willamette National Forests. Golfing, a popular addition to the list of things to do in Sisters often means surrounding yourself with mature ponderosa pine forests, babbling creeks with wildflowers lining the banks, and fewer crowds and lines. You really can’t go wrong golfing in Central Oregon, but read on for a list of the best golfing in Sisters.

Black Butte Ranch Golf

The premier resort community just northwest of Sisters, Black Butte Ranch offers some of the best golfing around. The ranch offers two unique and challenging championship golf courses: Glaze Meadow Golf Course and Big Meadow Golf Course. Off the course, enjoy the rest the ranch has to offer, including casual to fine dining, a golf pro shop, a world-class spa and many other luxury amenities.

Glaze Meadow Golf Course has been a Central Oregon golfing icon for years. The 18-hole, par 72 course features rows of aspen trees alongside evergreen ponderosa pines that perfectly frame the nearby North Sister and Mount Washington peaks. This course is also home to one of Central Oregon’s favorite par 3s.

Big Meadow Golf Course, another 18-hole, par 72 course, features similar ambiance and mountain views, but the course itself has a more straightforward design, with meandering curves giving way to expansive open fairways. The newest addition to Black Butte Ranch is a putting course designed by award-winning architect John Fought. The course is alongside Big Meadow and can be played as 18 short holes or nine longer holes.

The golf courses at Black Butte Ranch are open to resort members and guests, and special deals are often offered throughout the season. Check Black Butte Ranch for the latest updates, as the courses close seasonally to accommodate snowfall in the Sisters area.

Aspen Lakes Golf Course

Aspen Lakes is a privately owned, publicly enjoyed golf course just east of Sisters. World-class golf course architect William Overdorf helped create the original nine-hole course back in 1996. The newer nine holes were added later in a style that is not only local, but environmentally friendly; the signature red sand bunkers were made from sand that originated on the golf course property, while most other golf courses ship in their sand from out of state. The deep red sand creates a visual splendor as it contrasts with the green grass, blue skies and white, snow capped Cascade Mountains that are the Aspen Lakes Golf Course signature view. This course has been hailed by Golf Digest as one of the best affordable golf courses in the country.
